Norway – Possible airport Strike – Nationwide
Please be advised of the following development(s) that may impact your travel programme:
Unionised airport ground crews, including emergency response personnel, are planning an indefinite strike nationwide from 1000 June 29. Avinor, expects the work stoppage to shut down numerous airports in the country, including Stavanger Airport (SVG), Haugesund Airport (HAU), Alta Airport (ALF), Svolvaer Airport (SVJ), Sandnessjoen Airport (SSJ), Honningsvag Airport (HVG), Sandane Airport (SDN) and Rorvik Airport (RVK). Although the strike will not directly impact Oslo (OSL), Bergen (BGO), or Trondheim (TRD) airports, delays and disruptions are likely throughout the country’s civil aviation network. Residual flight disruptions could extend beyond the end of the strike as airlines clear any backlog.
Wage negotiations are continuing but have as yet been unsuccessful. Nevertheless, the strikes could still be cancelled if the parties involved reach an agreement.
